Default Avic Z2 in a 2001 IS

I recently just purchased the Z2, and about to have install done sometime next week, but have heard mixed things regarding the compatibility with the stock 2001 speakers....

Anyone know if the speakers need to be replaced due to the watt's? I've heard as well that it will not work with the factory amp..?

Does anyone know for sure if these 2 things are true?

(I've done the searches for this information, and haven't found anything relevant to a 2001 IS)

Any help would be appreciated.

Speakers would probably not have to be replaced due to the wattage, they would have to be replaced due to the different ohm's. The stock IS has what...6 speakers at 2ohm a piece?!?! If you hooked all them to the head unit the ohm's would be wrong. The head unit could be pushing .5 - 1 ohm which many amp's can not handle. This could lead to overheating and failure of the head unit. I would fork out the extra money and have all the speakers replaced with some decent 4 - ohm speakers. Probably sound better in the long run anyway. But I could be wrong.... Hope this helped. I would look in the CL Forum for Electronics, they could help you better than me.
