Does the Home Link (Garage Opener) use a seperate battery or no? When I press the button it's red does that means it's low on battery?.

AFAIK, it's powered by the car. If the light blinks slowly but never stays lit, it's not programmed. You need the original transmitter, and to follow the instructions on how to program it.
