Installer messed up my L/R balance ??
My Dyn 240 MK II's got installed today. They took my PPI PCX5800 and bridged the 4 channels that normally go to front and rear (left and right) and ran all four channels to the front speakers. The remaining channel(s) on the PPI are going to the JL sub.
I was driving home listening to a CD that normally has a lead guitar riff jump back and forth on the front soundstage between the left and right speaker. The lead wasn't jumping. When I adjusted the L/R balance I found that the damn Left was coming out the front speakers (Dyn's) and the right was coming out my anemic rear fill speakers.
Q. can you bridge the four channels of an amp to the front speakers only and still be able to pan from left to right?
p.s.
the rear fill speakers are supposed to be running off the amp power of the headunit.

Yes you can. The PCX-5800 has 3 sets of RCA inputs. The installers should have connected a Y-Adapter to the Front input and another to the rear input. Then they can connect the incoming RCA from you HU or LLC to the Y-Adapters (ie w/ the frnt being left channel and rear being right channel).
Did you play around with the Front to Rear Fader? Does it pan left if you fade all the way to the front and pan right if you fade to the rear? If it does, your installer must have gotten the RCAs mixed up.
btw...do you have an aftermarket head unit or are you running a LLC of the factory head?

i don't know if you feel like fiddling with your amp or just taking back to the installer and tell them to fix it...
Do you have access to the side of the amp where the RCA are going into? How many sets of RCAs are going into the amps input? Do you only have one set going to the fronts? If so, the settings for the internal crossovers might be the source of the problem. The rear and sub section of the amp have a INT/EXT switch. I could see a potential setup that could cause the symptoms you're seeing but I can't tell you for sure since I can't see how its hooked up. Like I said, you could fiddle with the settings there or just take back to the installer.
btw...nice choice in amp. The 5800 was on my list of amps to run my Dyns and Sub.
