Default Big Problem: Right side speakers louder

Well I just got finished installing my aftermarket speakers, external amp, 2 jl w6's and now my right side speakers are louder than my left. I took a volt meter and its giving me twice the volts on the right side than on the left, WTF? Is my stock amp broken?

THAT EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME!! The passenger side tweeter to be exact. It pissed me off for SOOOO LONG. And have you noticed that there is a little noise in the speakers now? I changed the speakers, the amps, and nothing worked until I swapped out the head unit. The first installer had the Kickers running off of the stock Nakamichi Amp. I think the system was built as a whole and when you add more efficient speakers they bring out the flaws inherent in the system.

That's really weird, cause when I had my EQ running, it picked up engine noise and some crrrrrrr sound in the rear, seemed like the eq just picked up the little noises the system already had. I still have a hunch my stock amp is broken, cause it is giving out twice the juice to the right side....

Nope, if you can, could you take a picture of the amp with the plugs?

I just pulled the amp out of the trunk, cleaned all of the dust off and took photos.

They are transferring RIGHT NOW. Once I resize the photos I will post them. I'm working too so give me 30 minutes to an hour.

Anyone know if this could be a direct replacement for a pioneer amp in a 98 GS?

Blue,

What's the EXACT layout and components in the system? (power cable routing, everything.) I'll give it a shot in sorting this out.

Here's the set-up: Stock head-unit, stock amplifyer. Ran streetwires smart wire from the stock amplifyer to the trunk into rca line level converters. Out of the line level converters it goes into the autotek 4-channel amp, then out of the 4-channel with streetwires 14 gauge into the focal access component speakers up front and focal coaxial access speakers in the back. The sub gets it signal from the stock amplifyer and into a line level converter, which in turns runs to the 1500 watt autotek mono amp. The power wire get's its power from a optima yellow top in the engine compartment, running 20 ft of 1/0 gauge of wire to a streetwires distribution block. Both the sub amp and the 4-channel amp has its each capacitor. the power wire coming from the distribution block is 4gauge to the capacitors and then to the amps.

Percy, do you know if the nakamichi amp is a direct replacement for the pioneer one? I tested the voltage coming from the stock amplifyer in the trunk and it said that the right side speakers were getting twice the voltage as the left, I think the left side has almost stopped working now. I'm guessing my stock amplifyer gave out after 5 years, but I don't know.

Blue,

Nak amps aren't direct drop in replacements for the Pioneer amps. Different connectors.

Easiest way to troubleshoot - take a meter at the LLC and take a reading. Better yet, take a reading BEFORE the line level converter and let me know what you get. It's quite possible that the stock amp has crapped out.

I already took a reading, the voltage is twice as high on the right side speakers, i bet its my stock amp.
