Problem with possible blown ML speaker, 04 LS430
I took my car to the dealership to get a new smart key made and they made me leave it overnight because they had some issues programming it. I get the car back and the damn tech who did the key was probably listening to the music cranked up to the max and now I hear some distortion from my front dashboard tweeter or 4" or whatever it is under there. It only happens at high volume and it's actually very hard to tell that there is even a problem but I definitely notice it. How can I replace it, or test it, or even remove the damn thing? Does the whole dash have to come off? Where can I get a replacement for a good price, not aftermarket. I doubt the dealership will fix it, bastards. I knew I shouldn't have left my car with them, I never leave my cars with anybody.

Try Park Place Lexus.

Their prices are usually very good. I have yet to find another place that is more affordable.
As for testing, you have to open up the area with the suspect damaged tweeter.

I had my driver side tweeter replaced in my LS430 recently. This was a warranty item and according to Lexus they DO have to remove the entire dashpad. It's actually more than that as the whole centre section has to come out as well, including some of the steering stuff, etc.
The tech that did the work advised that this was one of the only difficult and time consuming things to fix on the LS. I think the warranty chargeback was $500-700 from memory including the new ML speaker and labor.

Thank goodness it was under warranty. For some reason the ML parts seem to blow out quite easily. So much for quality.
My Dynaudio tweeters have been working flawlessly for the past 10 years in the Lexus. Never had to touch them at all. And they're BUILT to last.

Okay so it is definitely blown now... is there any place I can find instructions for replacement? Or at least a dash removal guide. I'd rather not take it to a dealer it's going to cost an arm and a leg to remove the entire dash to replace that speaker. I would rather take it to a good car audio shop and have a proper system put in that will never blow and sound excellent.
What would you do if one of your dash speakers was blown?

I have a new speaker, the dealer quoted me 1 hr of labor and said that side was way easier to replace than the other side. Anybody know how to remove that passenger side dash speaker?
