look pretty neat, i'm not much for the colors though..

on a side not i can't imagine these being very bright, LED's are way too directional, i think that's part of the reason they aren't used in car headlights now..

I find the Sc high beams quite useless, they don't light up the road as most other high beams do...I might just pick up this mod

these bulbs will never be as bright as a true HID, as previously stated the LEDs are too directional and do not work all that well with reflector bowls designed for halogen headlamps.

i have a feeling this will just be a trend that will pass. The type of LED used in the 600hL and similar cars (audi R8 etc.) is actually made into sort of a projector kind of unit, hence why they are so effective.

Older LEDs tends to be directional. Most LEDs now emit 180 degrees of lighting unless you buy those 5mm kind. The problem is, you do not have too many bulbs with the kind of output necessary to be useful, unless you stuff more than 1 in. At that point, the optics are way off (like the bulbs above where its overdone). I do have a single bulb that may be bright enough, but I dont care too much for these things so never got around retrofitting them in the car

So, do these emit enough light as high beams or are these just for show?

Not even close. Most highbeams have outputs exceeding 1600 lumens. These LEDs will probably not even hit 150. Definitely more of parking light than High beam.
