Default INSTALLING An AFTERMARKET CD PLAYER

In my area i've been to a few shops and they all want at least $400 or $500 to install a after-market cd player in my car. They claim that there is no aftermarket harness or dash kit for an 92 SC300! I was wondering if anybody could bring some light to this.

Wrong section but I can help you out. Your car has a factory amplifier in the trunk. They DO make a harness and you will need it, but there is a problem with using this type of harness. You do need the harness as it will help you easily hook up the ground power ect. However this harness converts the rca outputs from your headunit to the amplifier through the factory wires. What happend to me and every other person that used this harness is that you get a ton of engine noise through the speakers. The easiest way to fix this without buying new amps is to just bypass the amp all together. This is very easy and does not warrant 400-500 dollars.

The amp in the trunk has 8 wires (4 positive, 4 negative) going to the speakers throught the car. This is the amps output side. All you need to do is take 4 speakers wires about 10-15 feet each (60 feet total) and run them from the speaker out put connections (not the rca, the normal wires) on the radio. Run them along the side of the car to the trunk and connect them to the appropriate wires on the amp output harness. This way you have the speakers running directly off the head unit.

If this doesnt make sense or you have any other questions please ask.

Oh and as far as a dash kit, I had heard rumors that that a company finally developed a kit but im not sure if its available. What I did and many other memebers did was remove the stock radio and attach the new radio to the metal bracket that holds the ac/radio. After this you will have a gap you need to fill. All I did for this was cut a peice of balsa wood to fit the empty gap. I textured it and painted it to match everything else around it and hot glued it in place.

I made my install kit out of one of the sheets of black plastic they use to make other kits for less than 10 bucks.

I made the mistake of doing what was listed above and got TONS of engine noise. It was completely unbearable and drove me crazy. I have sinced bypassed all that and am finishing up the amp and sub install in the car now that will eliminate all that.

THanks as you can tell im new to the forum cause i put this in the wrong spot. I didnt even know there was a special interest forum on this. So where can i find a harness? SO the basic set up is just to use the harness for the power ground and remote. and instead of connecting the speaker wires from the harness to the deck.. I just rewire the speakers and run them straight from the back of the deck.!

Basically yes. But instead of running new speaker wire all the way to the speakers, the out put of the amp already has wires running to each speaker. So if you just bring 4 sets to the back by the amp from the deck. you dont have to run it all the way to each speaker.
