Default Antenna repair

Hi,

I need to fix my antenna on my 1998 SC400 prior to selling the car. The antenna motor is running but the antenna does not raise or lower. Any idea what could be broken and how I should proceed.

Thanks,

Jerry

Probably the teeth on the plastic strip at the bottom of the antenna are broken. You need to get a new one and they can be found on ebay for about $30. It is a job you can do yourself. I did mine about 4 years ago.

I had the same problem 2 weeks ago on my '93. The plastic strip was stuck. It is quite easy to fix (if the nylon toothed plastic strip is still intact). Go and download the repair manual in .pdf (it's available on -line ... I know, I got it) and check out the antenna part. There are basic instructions on how to remove the unit there.

shave it, get a hidden antenna, or just get a hidden antenna, i never really like the rc car antenna anyways

hidden antennas are cheap by the way, some of them have better reception and doesnt look like you're talking to ET while driving.
