Yup, I have the newer keys. You only pull the key part out when you valet, as it's the only thing that can permanently lock glove and trunk compartments. We don't use any actual keys. The fob stays in pockets and unlocks doors and allows us to start when we're in close proximity. The older keys contain immobilizer chips in conjunction with a physical key. Don't even think it can be retrofitted considering the pull out piece is a solid metal piece.
