This has been bugging me for quite awhile! This concerns owners of Lexuses that are equipped with Navigation & Bluetooth.
Situation: You have the Navigation programmed to give you a destination. You're driving along, and the sweet sounding voice on the Nav is giving directions, but if you get a phone call thru the bluetooth system you no longer get voice driving directions while you're talking on your cellphone!! There is a button on the Nav screen that let's you transfer calls directly to the cellphone, but it's grayed out while the car is moving. I tried switching my cellphone to pick up this call directly, but it drops the call.
Has anybody had this experience, and if so, is there a work around?
This thread should help you tremendously. It is packed full of information on how to override the 'greyed' out navigation functions while the car is moving,.. and is dedicated to your model Lexus.

Thanks anyway, but I didn't want to cut wires, or modify the nav system in any way, since you'll void the Lexus warranty. Besides, the override features were lost when I upgraded to the newest map data(version 7.1).
Ah, didn't know the override features are gone.. (I'm certain there is a way that is discovered or will soon be to override any upgrade from now till kingdom come).
Only work around I can think of would require some wire cutting.. which is very easy to do. But, if warranty is voided, understandable.
The bluetooth mute is a built in feature ,and again can be modified via wire configuration.
However maybe, for your sake, there is a work around via software/config that can be done. From the way you describe it, it sure sounds like there would be some way around such an obvious problem.
Have you tried calling the dealer? The manufacturer? Asked at places such as 12volt.com ?
I never bothered to ask my Lexus service department, because in the past, I never got a straight answer......in other words, they probably don't know. I'll ask them the next time I'm in there for service.
