You want a sub with a Qts higher than .5. Closer to .7 is better. 16mm of xmax (one way linear excursion) is minimum. More than 20mm is better. The Soundsplinter RL-s 15" would work perfectly if you have the power to push it. And with it's variable density voice coil, it will sound excellent.

IB/Free Air labels associated with subs are just marketing terms. There are some with the label that don't fit the necessary criteria and there are even more without the label that will work just fine in an IB. If you run across any sub without the Theile/Small parameters it should not even be considered for a purchase. Parameters from a 3rd party like Klippel or Dumax are even better.

If you are just wanting lists, then there is the AE Speakers IB 15 and Fi Car Audio has a 15" and 18" IB sub. All are normally used in home IB installs but they are more than capable of being used in a car if you can squeeze them in.

I just looked and the entire XXX series from Resonant Engineering are medium to high Qts models that should work great in an IB. I also modeled a Cerwin Vega V-Max 10" for another forum member and according to Unibox, it will make a great IB sub.

I was planning to buy an ED 9KV.2. But some people told me to google "Ben Milne Love Parade". What's the story behind this?

There's a few guys that have issues from a few years ago with Ben. They have been actively recruiting bandwagon riders since then. Currently people have issues with how the ED forum is run. It's their forum so they make the rules.

My take on everything is that Ben made some bad business decisions a few years ago and people can't let go. Currently, some of the ED products have descriptions that are inconsistant with what you actually receive. They sell quality electronics and speakers with a warranty that they stand behind. But if you consistently break their product, don't expect a new one every time. They are not Wal-Mart with their return policy.

I'm one of those who held a grudge against Ben years ago. Ever since then, I haven't even looked at ED products. I dont really have the grudge against him anymore, and I wouldn't mind trying out his newer subs, but car audio is a thing in the past for me. Maybe when I get back into it, I'll check out ED.

Still miss my ED15Kv2 from back in the day when they were still made by Destijl. Great subwoofer for the money!
