Default Need Help Finding the VSS wire AVIC-D3

I'm installing a Pioneer Avic-D3 in my 1999 Lexus SC300. For the navigation to work on this device I have to connect into the VSS. I need help finding the VSS (Vehicle Speed Senor) wire.

I don't want to screw up anything so if anyone out there has installed this, please help.

thanks.

the one you want will be a pulsed signal I would say SP2 by looking at it as it is the negative side

You can use multi meter set at AC voltage, tap it to SP+ and drive around to check the voltage. The voltage should increasing when the vehicle is accelerating

the link in the last post is right. on the other hand its a pioneer and it has a self-learning mode for VSS...meaning you dont need to connect this wire. it will use the satellite signal and the gyro sensor inside to estimate your speed and its always dead on.

i worked at circuit city mobile audio install and had to install a D3 in a volvo s40. i wasnt even going to look for the VSS wire in that car because volvo electrical systems are so tempermental that any disconnected terminal or fuse will trip a a code in the ecu.

i didnt connect the VSS and it works to this day. it was for my buddy. never skipped a beat.

you was right...but when you get to somewhere without the sat signal.. you wont get the nav working right. Furthermore, speed sensor help the navigation more accurate when you are doing over or under speed limit.

Not Sure. Pull back the carpet from under the passenger side dash. If you see a black cover held down by 2 screws, The ECM should be under there. You need to tap into E17 - 5

If it's not there then i don't know.

Default Avic z130bt

I am currently installing a Pioneer AVIC Z130BT into my 1999 SC300 and am having trouble finding the VSS Wire. I think the ECU between a '98 and '99 models are different. Would it still be the Blue/Yellow wire? My ECU is a Toyota 89661-24570, here is a picture of my 1999 ECU.
