I have a 97' SC400 and my front right door speaker is partial blown. I did 4 searches and found complex threads about upgrading and the quality could be less - due to the baffles.
I don't have a ton of time to research the pro's and con's different door speakers. This is my daily driver and I'm not planning on completely rebuilting the stereo system.
Should i Stick with finding OEM front door speakers from a recently newer SC and just replacing them?? OR do they make a Simple Aftermarket replacement that doesn't require major Baffle redesign work?..
I Just need a simple, low cost fix without too much work other than removing the old one and installing the new speaker.
Thanks,
BIGd
BigD026, Personally, I would never buy used oem used speakers. They will be old and could go at any time. I replaced my rear blown speakers with CDT Audio 4" Coaxial Speakers a nice priced speaker that sound and work great.
I installed a set of Macrom 4" components in my buddies' SC400 and they sounded great! Just needed a little modification at the tweeter and addition of some wire to the crossover but otherwise quite easy. I have 4 sets of these Macroms at my shop. Looking at getting $140 a set for them.
Yeah...the amp works great in all speakers except front right(pass.) side. I just wanted a quick fix without redesigning my car's stereo design...but it sounds like i'm going to have to put some more time into it.
Thanks,
