3x ED 9kv.2 8" subs across SC Rear Deck-- Input??
I've been kicking ideas around and it looks like the cone diameter of the 9kv.2 is just under 7" -- so with the 5" mounting depth being able to clear the gas tank by sitting it on a 1" MDF ring on top of the center sub cutout-- the only obstacle left for running 3 of these freeair would be fitting the right and left side subs to the bottom of the deck where only the cone needs to fire through the existing cutouts-- which should be easy when a baffle is installed-- (which is needed across the whole deck in 3/4")
This should be similar or better than having 3 JL 8w6's from the old school- Everybody knows what 3 of those can do-- I would feed the three a nice and healthy 600w at a 2.25 ohm load--
These little subs have a 14mm xmax-- very stout for an 8" woofer-- and with 230 cm^2 cone area per 8-- a trio would have near 700 cm^2 of cone area-- A 12" has about 550 if you're lucky, and a 15 has about 830~ish -- The tight and snappy cone control of having 3 motor structures control the cone area vs. 1 motor will give a greater power handling in IB setups as well as a tighter response-- VS. a 13" sub--
This setup would have a serious cone area advantage already-- so it should get wickedly loud even running freeair-- And from the looks of the excursion testing-- these subs will take a real beating-- I mean a serious beating--

I'm workin with a guy on a deal for 2 slightly used ones from the ED forums as we speak--
I do know that a pair would knock the socks off of a single sq10 in the factory cutout-- 30% more cone area PLUS 34% more excursion = 64% more output, but I know without a doubt that the thermal capabilities are at least double that of the single 10-- plus the tight control of two motors -- These could no doubt bang as well as compete in sq events--
I'll just cover the center hole with the baffle until I can find a 3rd 9kv.2 to finish off the trio-- It looks like it's gonna be tight fitting the center sub too-- Maybe a precision 5lb hammer will help the tank fit the sub--

It's starting to look like a trio of SQ10's would work better with the shallower mounting depth-- I think the depth issue with the center sub would be most easily overcome with these slimmer woofers--
Also-- 1050 cm^2 cone area is going to be hard to beat with 3 8" woofers..
That's more than a 15" sub has-- right there in the rear deck.
