and sgv_bum: did you install all the speakers/wires/amp yourself? if so how difficult was it to remove the doorpanels and configure your head unit

i've decided to just go ahead and put in new speakers... I measure 6" for the front doors and 5.25" back doors with 1" tweeters... is this correct?
The factory amp is between the backseats and the spare tire, it's incredibly hard to get to, my uncle and I spend about 2 hours looking for it. You will have to remove the spare tire, the spare tire cover, the stuff around it and then just start removing those plastic plugs left and right. It's underneath a black piece of metal that you would have to unbolt about 4 bolts to remove, then the amp itself is bolted down by 3 more bolts, we needed this to get speaker level input for my MTX amp.

I'm going to be putting in a remote-head unit in so I don't have to disturb that factory unit.

Scroll down this thread until you see the headunit that replaced his dome light, it might be what you're looking for or it might not.

or try sites like

http://www.cardomain.com

for a start. I also think that for an iPod integration and sound control method you might keep the Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY or JL CleanSweep.

cool thanks'

one last question... when a headunit specs at 50watts rms x4 channels... does this mean that it can provide that much power (like a mini-amp) or is that basically saying that's the loudest it can be played
