Default Nav system 6.1 update

My local dealer wants to charge me $395 for the latest nav update (6.1) for my 03 GS430. I see there are at least 4 ebay auctions for under $300. Is there any reason (besides the usual risk associated with buying things on ebay) why I should pay the extra $100 to the dealer? If the DVD being sold has been inserted into the hard drive of another car (supposedly for testing purposes only), will it still in work in mine?

Also, since I've just recently purchased my Lexus, do these updates come out every year? And if so, usually around what time?

Are there any other sources for these DVD's that cost less than the dealer? I tried l-tunedparts.com (recommended in another thread on this forum) but it looks like they are one version behind.

Thanks!

Just bought the 6.1 update for my new '02 GS430 from Sewell Lexus, www.lexus-parts.com for $279.00 shipped, and using the Clublexus discount code. The 6.1 update (part #86271-33035) came out November, 2006, and is worth every penny. Lexus usually gets a new update once every year to 1.5 years. Compared to the 2001 DVD i was using (part #86271-33030) it feels like I have a whole new nav. system. I only used the 2001 DVD for the first 2 weeks I had the car, but it sucked. The amount of new detail that is now displayed on the maps (in my city) has increased 1000%. There was really no data for my city. Aside from an eBay deal, I seriously doubt you'll find anywhere cheaper than lexus-parts.com. I watched the 6.1 update auctions on eBay for 2 weeks and the lowest price I saw at the end of an auction was for $247.00 shipped. So, the extra $30.00 to buy from Sewell was worth it for the peace of mind.

CL members get a 10% off discount at Sewell as mentioned above, here's how. Plus they are a forum sponsor

www.lexus-parts.com

Lexus-parts.com is one of the most extensive Lexus online stores and is backed by the largest Lexus parts department in the country. With over 16,000 part numbers currently in stock, we are able to ship parts the same day on most parts. As a gesture of our appreciation to our Lexus clients, we are offering a ten-percent discount to anyone that is a Club Lexus member. To help facilitate this discount, CL members are asked to enter a discount code during the checkout process. The current discount code is “CL911M”.

Isn't there anyway to download or burn to a dvd, or find the software online somehow. Just wanted to save a few bucks if possible?
