Default Front right speaker crackling only using CD changer

My front right speaker has started to crackle and pop very loudly, but only when playing a CD from the changer. It gets louder with increasing volume and there is no crackling when the volume is at the lowest setting or with radio or cassette. Is my changer malfunctioning and is there a fix short of replacing it?
Thanks

have you tried cleaning it with a lens cleaner?

Cleaning what exactly? The laser head in the CD changer? Do you know how you go about doing that?

go to the store and pick up a cd/dvd lens cleaner for about $10. it's basically a cd with brushes on it. when you're done, clean your home dvd player and anything else that plays cds. if it doesn't solve your problem, i would replace the unit.

and at least you'll have that cleaner for the future.

The CD cleaner did not work. I still have the same problem, except I was messing around with the fader/balance and noticed it's on ALL the right speakers, not just the front. It was probably like this the whole time, I just never noticed.
Any thoughts, other than replacing the changer for about $300 used?
