Speed pulse number for sc300
no, vehicle speed is measured by a pulse from a sensor mounted on the transmission.
well, after spending some time with the factory service manuals i might have found the answer to my own question. the installation instructions did not clearly define 'speed pulse number'. i am starting to think that it is the number of times the voltage fluctuates from the speed sensor per revolution of the speed sensor shaft(4 times per revolution). can someone verify?
is '4' the speed pulse number for an sc300?

i finally got a reply from the manufacturer.
4 is the correct speed pulse number
Speed Pulse Number is based on JIS(Japanese Industrial Standard)
speed pulse specification.
In JIS spec, 637rpm at 60km/hour is regarded as
"1-pulse". So, 2 pulse is its twice and 4 pulse is its 4 times.
Toyota(Lexus)'s typical speed pulse is 4-pulse.
But this speed pulse is not come directly from the speed
sensor at transmission / differential.
These speed pulse(2/4/8/16) are converted at ECU or instrument cluster.
Thank you and best regards.
