Default inoperable CD changer - 1992 sc300

On my audio unit in my 1992 Lexus SC300, all but the Tape and CD buttons light up. I loaded a few CDs into the changer but when I press CD, nothing happens?

To load the changer, I simply inserted the discs right side up, put the magazine into the changer, and slid the cover back over the mag. There is nothing else involved here? The light amber/yellow eject button is always lit on the cover. Unlike my previous cars, I dont hear the changer loading the CDs etc..

Are the non-lit buttons for the Tape and CD and the non-working changer related? I dont think so but just a thought. Also, any thoughts on what may be wrong with the changer. I was thinking of a fuse, but that button on the cd changer is lit.
