Harness and Dash Kit for Lexus?
I am an installer and have been doing a lot of work with Lexus and BMWs. I have always cut the factory harness and made my own dash kit out of wood trim. Is there a wire harness and dash kit for Lexus. I have never seen one but more and more customers have come to me saying they've seen one. Does anyone know where to get them........ It would make my job a whole lot easier. My lexus is below

Just take a Toyota harness 87-up from metra. Rewire for Lexus. In other words, same shell, different wire locations.
As for a kit, there are none available. You can make one out of MDF and then use some walnut veneer (if the car has wood trim) or color match to the factory interior.

There has been a new dash kit released by metra for the older es300's. i believe the 1994-1997 years. I think that Scooshe has also released a dash kit for the es300, but as far as all the other models go, I've never encountered one. I always make them out of plexiglass myself.

It is not that difficult to make a kit. Anyone who built a model car can make a dash kit. The SC and the LS are the easiest because it is a straight double din opening. Go get a new Honda dash kit and use it as a model to copy. I am currently working on putting a dvd reciever and monitor in an SC. Two din size opening in an SC. I wont know what I need until I pull it apart.

I have a '96 ES. This is a shot of my dash kit. It was definitely hard to come by. A good friend of mine owned a stereo shop here in town and he couldn't find one. Just so happened that I met a guy here who was a Sony sales rep, who also owned a stereo shop in Rock Hill, SC. To make a long story short, he bought the ES kit for his 99 GS400, and it wouldn't work, so I bought it from him. Anyway, here are some pics.

That is a really nice dash kit man. I usually use a little different approach in the ES. I have made some out of the oak trim. A lot of the times customers want a pocket below which also looks good. I have an SC and I am going to put a monitor and receiver in my stock opening. The SC is a true double din, perfect square this is not possible in the ES. GOOD FIND, It looks good. I will post my pictures when Im done. Take a look the SC gallery I have posted my custom sub box and tweaters on the first page.

Hey Marcman18,
What do you mean that the sc is a perfect square? there's not really anything square about that radio opening. I have an alpine cva-1005 monitor and a dva-5205 dvd player mounted on redrilled factory brackets. I had to make a plexi trim piece to fit. Let me tell you, it's far from square, It took me a couple of hours to shape it just right. I just noticed your post and thought that you were describing it to be a little easier than it actually is. If you want to take a look at my dash mount, it's in the SC gallery, either on the first or second page.

hey I am in no way saying the install is easy but a whole lot so much easier than an ES. For a ES you have to shape the bottom into a curve. The square I was refering too makes it easier to put two din sided units in there. This is impossible on the ES. When I have completed my dash kit for my SC you will see that I agree the job is not easy. I have made many prototypes and invested 4hrs already finding the perfect material. Take a look at the first page of the SC gallery and you can see some of my work.
