I am thinking of getting read of mt Rainbow Pro midbases and getinng ID's, Dynaudios or Focal ones. Focals I can get cheap 8" woofers 180 line. Dynaudios are too excpensive and I do not think they are so much better then other 2 brands. ID's they just dound so dam good.

Still thinking.

retro,

If possible, give them a listen before buying. The rainbow pros are good, but they're not meant to be the last word in accuracy. There's a bit of "fluff" in their advertising but that's to be expected of almost any speaker company. The Dyns are expensive but they're worth every penny if you're after the ultimate in transparency, speed, neutrality and sound quality. Plus the power handling is "real world" with the 3 inch voice coils rather than trying to push an hyped up rating with a 1 inch (or 1.5 inch) voice coil.

Focals are good and I would rank then under the Dyns. Same with the Diamond Audio HEX series.

Listen to them first!

I have never seen any advertising of car speakers so I always listen before I buy. Not the demo board, but some good installs (local excpensive audio shops have demos). I have listened to Dynaudos midbases in combination with Rainbow Refs in kicks (friend's truck) and they did sound nice, but I liked the sound of Focal's a little better as far as clarity goes. I was also impressed with ID midbases (not horns though) in a shop install in new Maranello. Absolutely beautiful sound and response.

I will prolly go out and listen again.

As for my Pro's, they sound nice...very nice, but my car does not allow me a similar installations (sealed enclosures) even with a use of varial vents
