Default Odd problem...

Okay so I have an 01 gs 430 with the ML nav system. For a little while the radio has been acting screwy. It hasn't played in a month so i thought the amp was dead and ordered a new on ebay. Haven't gotten it yet. But today i go and turn the car on and the radio works! So i'm driving along and hit a bump and the radio goes out, controls dissapear from the screen and such.

Let me explain the history a little better. The radio use to sparatically go out and come back on. Sometimes it would crank itself to the highest volume and blast for a quarter second scaring the crap out of my step mom(i just got the car this month and am trying to get everything working again) then when i got the car it wouldn't turn on at all, the controls on the screen were locked out too.

So i'm thinking it's a loose wire somewhere. Anyone else have any insight into this.

If you also think it's a loose wire too do you have any one have any clue as to what wire would cause this? How hard would it be for me to fix myself?

THANKS!

I have a VERY similar problem in my 92 sc400. the stereo will work sometimes and not other times. sometimes it goes out when i hit a bump, and sometimes it will work fine for as long as a week, only to stop working for the enxt week. It even seems to stop working sometimes when i press the brakes.. seriously. Anyways, I haven't experienced any random volume max outs or anything though. If it helps to know, the head unit says "Lexus Premium Sound System" or something like that.. has the 12 disc cd changer and all.

for the sc, you have weak grounds. it's a very typical problem with the sc

Thanks guys, if no one else has any insight i think i'll just take it to the dealer and have them charge me $9,000 to swap out the engine because a wire to the radio is routed through the combustion chamber or something...

Loose wire or fuse is the most likely reason.
