Default 01 non nav radio dead

The radio will not turn on? It appears to be dead the only source of life is when I plugged it in, the cd changer cycled.

I have checked all the fuses in the car. I checked the plug and have a 12 volt power. when I plugged it in the CD player cycled through the CDs. It would not load or unload.

I have opened it up and I can't see any hot spots or bad welds?

Could the AMP be bad and causing this? example the ignition turns the AMP on which then gives a 12volt signal to the radio to turn it on?

Not a ML stereo. base pioneer premium.

As I type this there should be two sources for 12 v when the ignition is on. so I need to check plug with ignition on. I checked it with ignition off. Before I buy one off Ebay I want to know the radio is the problem .

Looking at the guts of the radio does anyone know where the failure points might be?

Just thought I would ask, suggestion for things to check would be helpful.

Ian

Default I used to fix my 93 jeep grand cherokee this way

I am going to try it the car, it used to fix my Jeep grand Cherokee. My dad did it with his Jag XJ8 and it worked.

I am going to do this and leave it overnight.

I will report back.

Till tomorrow.

I reconnected the battery this morning and no relief. the stereo is dead and I noticed that there is no screen lights on but the cd player cycles through the cd's.

Once I know the other repairs work I can replace the seat and radio.

I took the radio out again, nice quick easy job.

It has both power and acc power when the key is on.

this tells me the unit is dead. It doesn't even have the night backlighting nothing.

I went to a local LQK and ordered a radio out of N California. 04-06 radios are < $200 but 01 to 03 the cheapest I found was $239.

Good news the one I bought was on sale and it should be the same one. 6811 pioneer standard radio.

I will have the car ready in the parking lot and test it before driving it away.

If it doesn't work I will use the money towards a back seat they have in Utah.

They ship it for free if the part is in the same region. I simply pick it up at my local LQK.

I never knew that Lexus had such a wonderful stock stereo system. The radio CD combo I got had a 6 pack of deep bass rap. Not my preference but it sure rocked the car.
Wow this stereo has power. All the speakers sound like they are working. Easy sound adjustment.

I just need to know how to program my Bluetooth radio channel into the presets.

I am so happy, for $200 I have a rocking stereo which I can play my music, GPS and phone calls from my phone.

Plus my steering wheel buttons work. Another problem out of the way next will be my sunroof and this car will be dialed in.

I know for sure that the 04-06 LS430 supports Bluetooth, but I seem to recall that the 01-03 LS430 does not.

I needed to find a way to set my radio to the transmitter frequency.

i use 90.3 I just figured out how to set the button.

now I have the six pack loaded and the transmitter for other music, phone, navigation and Cortana.

i love the stock stereo, I just need a magnetic phone mount. I like my phone to be high and easily accessible.
