Just ordered Eclipse AVN6600
Hey everyone after researching for about 3-4 days till about 4-5 in the morning I finally decided to go ahead and get the eclipse over the Z1, I really didnt need some of the features on there, and the ipod adapter which i may use a bit is already integrated into the 6600. I got it for a good price $1520 + $40 for shipping. The problem with my car is they don't make a dash kit for them. Check out what my current car stereo looks like.

After no company wasn't sure what to do in terms of the dash kit, i figured why not use the trim for the nav system that comes in the upgraded package of my car and i basically ordered that today from greenwich lexus for ~$115. I'm probably gonna get theguys at the car shop to install it for me though. So for the complete install I'll be looking at about $1950. I also got a quote from a company which didnt see my dash (as this would be a prob) for $2900, so i think i did well.

the ipod adapter is NOT integrated. it's a seperate piece that you need to get as well, the iPC-106
the AVN6600 is "iPod Ready" meaning that you have full control over the ipod once it's connected to the unit.

it's got the interface, you just need the way to access the interface
the unit is around $100 or so. the nice thing about it is you can connect your ipod up and not have to look at it while you're playing it.
or you could run an RCA to headphone cable into the AV-In if you don't want to fork out the money for the IPC-106

Its not a big deal to me i can always add it in later.
Got two questions for you, you def seem to know a lot about this stuff, you think the factory lexus navigation(denso, not sure if it plays dvds and all that though) is better than aftermarket?
Also will this work the way im doing it, using the navi system trim on the eclipse unit, i mean fit wise will the eclipse fit the opening which is 3 7/8" (the 6600 is 4") tall and 7 7/8" wide? Thanks for your help man. I really ordered the 6600 for the dual dvd player, i plan to put monitors in the headrests later btw.
EDIT: Finally found the actual specs W x H x D (7" x 4" x 6 1/2") is there anything they would be able to fill that 7/8" with ? I'm sure i'll figure it out once i get the unit and try it though

it's not a dual DVD player. it's a "dual drive" meaning that the top drive is a CD/DVD/MP3/WMA and the bottom drive is for the map only. it has a function called "RSE" or Rear Seat Entertainment, that takes a little more getting into to describe that.
personally i think the eclipse one is better than the factory one. depending on the year of car it's made by the same company
since eclipse makes all of toyota's parts. some lexus models go with a different company, but that's for the more recent ones.
i'm not to sure about the unit fitting the stock navi hole though.
