Default Pioneer AVIC-Z1 mp3 problem

I am interested in buying this but after watching the article on CNET.com im dissapointed. last time i bought a CD was about 7 yrs ago, and i dont plan on changing that. well according to the article,

CDs made by us, in mp3 format CAN NOT be burned on to the AVIC-Z1's HD according to the article, but it can be played from CDs. this does not make any sence, can anyone prove this or disprove this

MP3s are popular and others may be able to help you with this. Personally, I don't use them. The Z1 records your CDs to its HDD and indexes it with GraceNote to display album, artist and song info on the Z1. Storage is decent, but fixed. And, sadly, there is some compression of the original wave files. But the database allows you to load up tunes by album or artist. For instance, you can spool up everything the Beatles recorded. Very convenient.

It can record burned cds just not mp3 cds. Just record a cd like you normally would 15-20 tracks on a 800mb disc.

Well, the eclipse HD version doesnt let you copy MP3 on CD's to the HD and the new LS doesnt either. Both of them only rips from Audio CD. Its probably a feature that wasnt allowed due to some copyright laws? I guess it's just to confirm that you have an actual CD and not downloaded.
