Default New Speakers

Hey guys, i decided to switch my speakers in my car....most are blown. I have the nak system now, the sub is still ok , so im just changing the components out for coaxials. I decided to go with these, since im on a budget, a low low budget. What ya'll think?

Seems like an OK choice given your budget.

Quarts are excellent speakers as I have them in my BMW.

One thing though. MBQ speakers have been criticized by some enthusiasts for being a bit too sharp to the ears (due to their higher notes in the higher frequencies).

Boston Acoustics and Polks are more bassy compare to the MBQ ones.

I am personally very pleased with my Quarts.

Well as far as i know, my Nak Sub is still in good condition i checked on it the other day....14 year old car and it looks flawless...the speakers however......diaphram torn all the way around. Im not to worried about the MB's not having a great base, thats what the sub is for......

Seems like they're just banking on the name now...

Not surprised that they're still using iron core inductors in their crossovers...good for hysterisis distortion. Rainbow Reference does the same crappy thing.

According to some people, the same can probably for PPI amps or even Cilfford alarms.

It's been almost 10 years since I installed the Quarts on my BMW. Looks like things have really changed since then.

ya it is true. mbquart is now owned by fosgate. And as a above person said, ppi now owned by directed, but directed is not a horrible company.

but see, you gotta like put this in your perspective. since you are only talking about the discus coaxial (60$), the fact that fosgate owns mbquart doesnt really matter. If you were going to spend say, 5000$ on mbquart Q series components, and Q series amps.... then this would be a huge issue.

to be honest with you, with a 60 dollar budget you are not going to noitce to big of a difference between any brand you pick. However, people will generally steer you towards infinity reference, polk's lower line, the mb quart discus, etc... Another good brand to consider is CDT's coaxial. In the end though, as long as you dont buy like BOSS or Pyramid, itll make no difference. Coaxials at 60$ are all almost the same.

go with the mbquarts, you shouold be happy with them. But as always if you buy them from ebay, know that there is no real warranty.
