When I dial a number to place a new call, the radio mutes and the handsfree system activates about 3 seconds AFTER the call is answered on the other end. Usually, all I hear is a "Hello? HEllo?" because they've already picked up their phone and said "Hello?" once.

Really annoying....

2006 GX470 with a RAZR.

Any ideas? I've looked through the settings and didn't see anything to change this. I don't care if I have to sit through the "ringing" of the phone just to make sure I catch the beginning of the conversation.

Thanks.

How long have you had the phone?

As for the RAZR BT being defective, I don't know. I use a handset all the time with no issues.

The phone is about 7 months old.

That's why on my motorola v6--, I set it to 5 sec where you can still hear it ring through the speaker.
It then picks up and not having to guess when it picked up....works better.

theres a recall on razr's my screen is all jacked up and its being recalled. Also I found on my old razr the bluetooth stunk I think it needed new firmware. If you have a razr call cingular and if its less than a year old have it replaced with a new one.

Can't seem to find that setting on my RAZR. When I use a BT headset, I hear it ring...

The RAZR recall was more about some software glitch - the phone thought it was closed when it wasn't. Doesn't sound BT related... but who knows. I'll talk to Cingular.

If there is a recall, I can only imagine it's a little difficult to get one, considering they have sold so many in the past year.

Tried that - not what I want.

It's the other way around. When I am in the car and PLACE a call, the stereo still plays as the call is placed, and then rings at the other end. The person whom I am calling picks up their phone, and the stereo doesn't mute until about 3 seconds AFTER the people on the other end have picked up their phone. By this time, they have already said "Hello?" once or twice - which I didn't hear.

The setting you mentioned controls when your phone automatically ANSWERS for incoming calls. Which I definitely don't want. But I tried it anyway.

OK, at least that was clarified

The other issue-I understand what you're talking about and I hate it too. I haven't heard of a fix for this b/c it still being blamed on the BT technology.
