I think any subwoofer that comes with a rebuild kit has competion in mind.

 

It can never take on one 12" DD Beast. That thing can do 170db with 4 DEI 1100d amps running it.

 

depends on your application. the rfl was meant for spl, and spl only. sounds horrible, but gets darn loud (heard one in an 8.5 cube box tuned to 43). if all you want to do is compete and switch subs for street use, then they would be alright (although there are a lot of other speakers i'd choose first before going with the rfl). the dd beast is nice, but then almost everything dd makes is good stuff (except the 45 series). if you want to look into real sql subs, consider the image dynamics idmax, eclipse titantium, atomic thunder extremes, crystal cmp /cmpx2 (these among others)

 

I would definetely add a Audiomobile MASS and possibly JL Audio W7 to the list. MASS right there with IDMAX and W7 seem to use similar cone technology so it will probably be as good.

 

Umm the is beast was only an 18'' driver and is now a 17'' driver.

 

im going to have to follow itzloud on this one, dd also called the beast the 9917 (the 17 for the size).
