95-96 radio into 92-94 HELP
I need help. Been searching but nothig came up. I have a 1992 w/o CD and recently acquired a 96 with CD. I just want to swap out the decks yet the plugs don't match up. What are my opinions? Does the 95-96 radio light up amber? Any help is appreciated. If not, decks are for sale as I will upgrade.
The color display did change. You should however still be able to use it. I put in a 95 nak into my 93 to replace the old nak. Amber display vs. goblin green. I will need to change that
You should be able to just hook up the 3 original plugs you had on your old system. No cd changer right?
Check out the schematics I have posted. They are here on CL and on my website.

Strong: Do you have amps (not just the sub amp, but one where your CD player would mount) in your trunk or did you have the basic basic pioneer system?
If it is the basic one then some cut and paste is required. I'll try and help you as much as I can.
If you had the 280w pioneer system with the two amps in the trunk then you should be able to plug and play this one. You just wont have the CD changer plugs there.

I have the basic stereo with a tiny *** sub and one amp. I acquired the system from a 1995 sc400 12disc system and so far have installed the bigger sub. I just want an OEM orange headunit. What other stereo parts are worth upgrading from that car? speakers? amps?

Okay. So you have the base model stereo (there were 3). Your stereo had the amp for the speakers built in. Take a look at the nak hack pinouts. I belive 2 of you 3 connectors should be plug and play. You will need to do some work to get this to function properly, but it is possible.
If you simply splice the wires, then you will have a very low low volume as the Pio and Nak HU's have a line level output. You need to add an amp between.
If you have installed a stereo/amp system before then this should be doable with those skills.
Come on up to Indiana, bring beer and girls, I'll help you out.
