Default Extending Battery Cable

How are you guys extending your battery cable for the positive side?

I want to change out the battery terminal but i would need to extend the wires a bit.

I have this battery terminal

Left upper side will be the from the alternator and the right side will be my power cable for the amps.

Can i simply chop the factory terminal and use two of these with a bolt in the middle to join the new wire to extend to the battery? And of course the whole connectors will be shrink wrapped and wrapped with black tape

EDIT:
Nevermind, i found what i needed http://www.darvex.com/miva/graphics/00000001/SCOUP0.jpg.

I would replace the entire wire, that's what I did.

getting to my alternator is kinda hard. The supercharger bracket is in the way. So i figured extending it would be easier until i actually have time to do it the right way.

If you must extend the existing wire then I would solder it.

the key is to keep the resistance of the extended wire very low, and to keep it from corroding so it stays that way. you can use aftermarket terminal blocks, splice blocks, etc.- just be sure connections are very solid and protected. I always cover/seal the connections in plenty of dielectric grease - you can get it in little packets at PepBoys, Autozone, etc.
