LS430 Sat. Radio works on RX330
I have a '05 LS430 and my wife has a '05 RX330. When I purchased the LS in 2004, only the XM module was available. Now that the Sirius module is available, I switched out and decided to see if the XM module would work on the RX. It does and I am going to replace it with a SIrius module, which will certainly work, as well.
Both vehicles have navigation but only the LS has ML. On the LS, the controls/stations show up on the navigation screen but, on the RX, you get Sat. radio info through the LED read-out for the std. stereo system.
I hope I am not telling people something they already know but I failed to locate confirmation that this would work before trying it.
The RX Amp is under the carpet and wood that makes up the hinge for the tool tray in the rear cargo area. It is very easy to get to. The LS antenna is magnetic and I put it next to the radio antenna.
On the LS, noone should have to have an external sat. antenna. For XM, I put it next to the third brake light under the package tray and totally out of site. For Sirius, Lexus' antenna is a ridiculous set-up on the front inside windshield. I substitute a small antenna that came with a portable unit. It is magnetic and I attached it to the inside of the trunk lid between the metal and the finish panel. So far, so good. We'll see how the long-term reception goes.
