My friend and i decided to add and additional sub and amp to my '95 lexus sc400 with the nakamichi sound system. We had everything hooked up and then we try to power it on and we dont get any power from the AMP. what is wrong? we werent sure which 12V power lines we need from the stock HU to power the amp and also where is a good place to ground the ground wire. the amp and box is in the trunk.

aftermarket amp i'm assuming:
12v wire runs to the battery
ground runs to any bolt that is against the body....hook up your power wire, clip your test light to it, and find a ground that way.....
REM wire runs to whatever power source is on when the car is on, but off when it's off.......aftermarket head units have a wire just for that (blue/white usually)
and if you're using the factory head unit, i don't know if it will work right....
To find a remote wire (OEM radio), using a test light, look for a switched wire at the ignition switch in the steering column, its usually the most reliable.
btw, scrape away at the paint when attaching the ground wire.
