Default Given up on nakamichi

Situation: My factory amp has begun to go downhill. The front speakers and rear sub work, but the rear speakers do not produce any sound, giving an unsatisfactory loss of mid-range sound. My audio guy determined all speakers are fine, it's the amp that's giving the problem.

I have bought a used amp and had him install, but it actually was even worse, as the sub wouldnt even work at that point. He switched back in my original amp and I've been using it ever since. I am no longer interested in purchasing any used amp, even if they only go for a few hundred, nor am I interested in buying a nakamichi rebuilt amp for $777 (lowest price I can find) and DEFINITELY not interested in spending around 2K on a new one.

My question is, what is a good AFTERMARKET amp for about 2-300 bucks that interfaces well with our stock stereo systems and produces good sound with all 7 speakers, in addition to fitting in the cavity for the original amp?

Again, I would rather have nakamichi but it's just too much of a hassle if aftermarket can get all 7 speakers working good for less money.

Default Any room in your boat?

I am in the same position as you with my 95 SC 400. My CD changer sucks along with the amp and some of my speakers. Sorry I can't help.

Dang.... anyone, a good aftermarket amp to use when your cd changer and speakers all work fine, but the amp is shot?

Any good aftermarket amp in the 2-3, or even 400 dollar range?

Also, do I want single channel, 2 or 4 channel? No idea what that means but i'd imagine more channels would be better.

Yup, a 5 channel amp (preferrably with channel 5 being a dedicated sub output) is what's required.

I m currently still running the Nak amp with upgraded speakers all around. Nothing I have seen comes even remotely close to fitting under the CD changer. As tramix said, relo is a must.

If you're running stock speakers, look for a 5 channel amp rated at about 50 watts per channel and you should do OK. Just double check the RMS on the stockers though, been a while since I have seen mine.
