Default GS400 navigation upgrade question pls help

I have my eyes on a GS400 that comes with the stock navigation. I am looking to purchase a GS that I can upgrade the stereo system in. I know that the navigation models have climate controls integrated into the navi system. Is it possible to swap out the system and use a climate control from a non-navi model, so that I may install an aftermarket head unit?

Also, is the 99 stock navi system slow? Is it outdated? Can it be upgraded if I cannot upgrade to an aftermarket unit?

Thanks for any help

I think its possible to install a climate control on it if you dont want the OEM navi. The navi is pretty quick. I believe they are not going to be making upgrades for them any longer.
