i gotta gs4 with the nakamichi system and my back right speaker in the door is crakling pretty bad. it doesn't sound blown, but seems as if there is a short or something. anyways, i'm just gonna replace the speaker, but i want to make sure i get the right one. Do i have to go with a certain brand to make it work correctly? i'm a newb when it comes to audio stuff and any feedback would be appreciated.
Almost anything that fits from Polk, Infinity, JVC, Pioneer, etc. will work fine
I don't have a GS4, I have an SC with the Nakamichi system, but when one of my 4" drivers blew I got an Infinity speaker and that works just fine. You can probably buy two very good replacement speakers for what the dealer will charge for a replacement Nak speaker.
I would first remove the speaker you are having trouble with and then examine the surrounding area and determine how big a speaker will fit in there. It may be 4" or, if you and/or the installer wants to get ambitious, you may be able to fit a 5 1/4" or 6.5" in there.
Then go to the crutchfield.com web page ( http://www.crutchfield.com/S-OniN9rt...roup.asp?g=399 ) and take your pick of a speaker of that size in your price range. You can then buy it off the web or a Best Buy or Circuit City.
There should be plenty of threads from GS4 owners here that discuss how to replace speakers for your car- just do a search.
I am guessing that you have 4" in the doors. Unless your savy, I would just order the exact speaker size and replace it. I got Infinity Reference in my car and they sound great. Just a suggestion. Not too expensive, but not cheap either.
