On the cig. lighter plug the center pin is + pos. and the outside is ground -.

It is easy to test the wires if you cut the cig. plug off, just get a multi-meter and set to continuity (sp?). Touch the center of you cig. plug with one leed from the meter and touch the other meter leed to one of the wires on the other end of the cig. plug. When the meter beeps it is telling you that the its the other end of the plug.

Usually there is a fuse inside of the cig. plug, if so make sure you add a fuse with the proper value.

Good luck
