93 sc400 nak problems
I'm having a problem with the nakamichi system in my 1993 sc400.
If I slowly turn the volume **** to increase the volume, I would expect the volume to increase slowly and steadily. Unfortunately, this is not the case....
As I slowly turn the ****, the volume will go up a lot, then get really quiet, then go up some more, then get quiet again, and so on....
The display and the controls on the head unit are working just fine.. but this thing with the volume control bugs me a bit.. any ideas?

It's the volume control solenoid. If you take the center console out, and remove both the volume **** and climate control **** you will find a unit behind those *****. One unit controls both. I had the exact same issue. Got a new solenoid (keep calling that for lack of a better term) from the dealer and good as new!
I'll see if I can find it over the weekend for you. I have all my receipts at home (I do most of my posting while in work
). Check back here Monday. Or, if you need it this weekend, take the console off and remove the "solenoid". Part number is right on the side.
