Some of the clientele just cares about what equipment goes into the car. For example this one guy with the Chrysler 300 on dubs went into my buddies shop and asked them to make his car loud and with top of the line equipment with no real budget limit. He ended up getting an Eclipse deck, US Amps, Top of the line Focals front and back, a custom trunk with some huge Resonant Engineering subs and many other stuff. The guy didnt care about tuning for SQ and just wanted the components in stock location. The car sounded pretty good to most of the laypeople but audiophiles would redicule it.

McIntosh amps are nice. Grab them if you can. If you want to "step down" one, Arc Audio amps are pretty clean also.

I've had no problems with my 8W7 what so ever. running around double rated power, 500 wrms vs a rated 250W rms, and not a single hicup. I've run a billion different setups in the last five years, everything from bottom level JLw0's and old school fosgate punches, to an ID IDQ10, to a 15W3 in a HUGE ported box., and listened to tons more in my days an installer. Nothing has ever satisfied me like the 8w7. Fast tight punchy bass when you want it, and it goes pretty damn low for an 8" sub. Run off a PG Ti400.2, rated on the birth sheet at making 427 wrms @ 4 ohms, and I've got it on a 3 ohm load with the little w7.

Verry minimal clipping with the PG amp, verified off of my velman Oscope. Basic install in my beater subaru while I was seaching for the right car to put it in, (hence sc400). In the JL sealed box for the 8w7 I got for free when I bought it. 3/4" mdf sides, with 1" MDF front. I plan on picking up another of these bad boys and running somthing nice big and clean to them, but may settle for the 1000 wrm Xtant amp just beacuse I have a deal to get anything from Mitek for about 30% of MSRP.

TOked and mkorsu: You guys are right on about PPIs.

I have two PPI amps installed in my BMW's trunk and they power my MB Quart speakers and Infinity sub beautifully.

Plus, the art work graphics on the black amp simply looks amazing.

Think I'm confusing subs here...which was the one that had a squarish shape to it? That was the one that had problems...not W7.

Percy, I think the confusion is an obvious one- the Kicker square sub is "L7", easy to confuse with W7. Extremely different subs though ;-).
