Default Audio Issues H/U? CD?

My cousin has a 92 SC400 and he's got the Nakamichi system in it with the changer. Recently, he's been having a lot of troubles with it. He'll select a CD and it'll play, but it will either skip or it will "black out" meaning no sound at all. Anybody have any ideas as to what could be the cause of this problem?

And are there any solutions anybody can possibly propose to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance.

It's Old. And it never was good to begin with.

This happens to EVERYONE. No SC that I know of pre-95 has a completely perfectly working stock system. You can try to fix it by pressing the reset button on the inside of the changer, or by manually resetting the lens and cleaning it. But chances are good it won't help. You can switch out the SC CD changer for an ES 6 CD changer, they are the only plug and play changers that work with our SC stock HU. You have to mount the ES changer differently, but all the wires are plug and chug.

Default How I solved that problem

I replaced my 12-disc cd-changer with one from an pre 1997 ES300. It is a 6 disc changer and has been working very well for months. Be sure that the one that you get is from an ES300 and it was trunk mounted.
THey are selling on EBAY for approx $150.00
