4" speaker choices, Eclipse Amp question
I'm in the process of replacing my current audio system with a new one in my SC4.
Right now, I have a Kenwood touchscreen headunit and CD changer. The stock sub has already been replaced and is driven by a separate amp. All other speakers are still stock and driven by the Kenwood amp.
I will get a used Eclipse AVN2454 from a friend as a replacement for the Kenwood headunit. At the same time, I'd like to change the front and rear speakers. I'm looking at 4" components, as I don't want to make any modifications to install them. I also don't want to spend hundreds of $$$ on the speakers. So, I was thinking about MQ Quart DSD210 (2 way components) and PKC-110 (to way coax) for the rear. I can get both of them together for less than $200 shipped.
My questions:
- Is that a decent choice?
- Does it make any sense to install a two way (coax) system in the rear?
- Any better options in the 200-400$ (for all four) price range?
- Would you use the Eclipse amp or recommend a separate, 4-channel amp? If yes, which one?
As you can tell, I'm building this system on a budget and without a lot of experience with car audio stuff, so any help is appreciated. I don't expect any miracles, but a notable improvement over what I have now would be nice. Btw, I'm more into Jazz / Fusion / Pop / Rock stuff, so I'm not looking for a very loud or punchy system.
Thanks
Diego

Hi Diego - when one of my factory 4" units in the rear went out, I replaced the rears only with Infinity reference series 4" coax units. I know that Infinity is not one of the preferred brands these days, but I've been pretty happy with it, considering the $70-ish price.
It's very easy to hear the improvement over the stock units, as the door speakers still use the stock 4" drivers and 1" tweeter. Switching the fader from front to rear makes a very audible improvement in vocals (particularly). The stock units sound nasal and honky by comparison.
If I get motivated I will replace the front speakers with something better than what's in there. Would love to hear what you think of the Quarts.
