Well, i decided I want to replace the stock door speakers and tweeters.. Anyone know the sizes in a 99 GS300 Pioneer equipped GS300? Already did the Kicker free air, so now I just need to get the rest up to par....
Tweeters are 3/4 or 1", in the corner of the A-pillars. If you plan on replacing them, you can fit many aftermarket tweeters in there, but you'll need to take some good measurements and maybe make new mounting brackets to make sure the fit is correct. The tweeter dome cannot hit the back of the grille, or it will distort, and possibly abrade.
If I want to just doa straight swap.. 3/4 tweeters, will there be any modification needed??? Also, all the doors are 4" right , or can I go to say a 5 or 5.5 without any modification of the fit/location ????
What I would recommend is that you remove a stock tweeter FIRST, then take it to a store with you, or measure it and compare. It is likely you'll need some modification of some sort.
Not likely you can fit anything other than 4" in doors without mod. You may be able to dremel out the plastic enclosure, but I don't recommend it. Most of us have removed plastic enclosure and put in wood or MDF baffles, cut to fit the new speaker.
