Ok Guys, I have a 2000 ES300 and I'm seriously considering dumping the factory Pioneer unit and getting a sat ready/mp3,etc,etc compatible unit . My dilemma is I want to maintain the "wood" look on the dash,so the flat black plastic look just isn't going to cut it.
Does anyone make a better looking /heavy duty kit?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Well Dr., I just check l-tunedparts.com and they have nothing.
You might have to try an audio place where they will fabricate a piece for you, something that they will place over that black trim.
Sorry, no help here. Have you tried google?
Thanks, I've tried Google and still couldn't find anything as well.
I also e-mailed this company that makes all kinds of custom trim kits and asked if they
have an overlay for an install kit, but still no reply which tells me, "outta luck again"
I can't believe that no one else has raised this issue ?
It wouldn't even be a problem if the other components were black, but this is too much of a clash or contrast for me, unless someone has some ES300 pics to look at and convince me otherwise??
I have a little experience with wood veneer so I might be able to help. Do you have the Platinum Edition with the bird's eye maple or the stock woodgrain?

Thanks for the reply ,
I have the stock "woodgrain" in the middle of the dash and console and would like to maintain the consistency.
Surely some place sells a dark woodgrain looking overlay decal type material that can be trimmed to fit an aftermarket installation kit?
They're now making decal overlays to cover an an entire car! ( seen recently on Horsepower TV )
hey you might want to try asking around your local audio installers. it might be easier to have them order the wood overlay w/ decal that you were mentioning on your behalf. thats how i had mine done. i believe what the installer did was order the wood trim from one them exotic wood dash kit companies (i forget the name), and ordered it before it was precut to match the dash outlinings. i'll try to post some pics, hope this helps.
