Default Help I have a theft deterrent problem

Here it is. The system works fine until I unlock it with the key. Once I unlock it with the key the alarm activates and I have to shut it off by placing the key in the ignition. After that I have to remove fuse 20 to start the car again, but then nothing works. No power door locks, No nothing. Then I can replace the fuse, but if I turn the car off, I have to pull the fuse again to start it. And this is on a 1990 LS400 Helllllllllp b4 I shoot this car!!!!

Do you have the original keys with the remote button on the side of the key? Do you have a switch on the drivers side that says Remote ON OFF?

If you email me your address I can send you some wiring diagrams.

Take care,

Tami

jaebrody-

if you put the key in the drivers side door the alarm will go off. All you have to do is go around to the passenger side door , put the key in and turn it. This will deactivate the alarm and allow you to start the car. P.s. The keyless on the car i am selling works perfect. and the cd changer works perfect also- however i put an after market cd player in so the cd changer is not in use. If you are still interested in my car- i sent you an im

I promise my above post will work- the deal w/ the doors not unlock, trunk not popping, etc.. is all part of the security system- just go to the passenger side and problem fixed.

This should also work on the drivers door. Unless there is a problem with your drivers side door lock.

No, not negative. This is from a tech bulletin for a 1990 LS400.

Take care,

Tami

2. CANCELING OF THE THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM IN THE SET CONDITION
Check if the theft deterrent indicator light is blinking.
Canceling Operation
When any of the following operations (a), (b), (c) or (d) is performed, the theft deterrent system is canceled
and indicator light will go off.
(a) Unlock the left or right front door using the key.
(b) Unlock all the doors using the wireless door lock control system.
(c) Insert the ignition key in the ignition key cylinder and turn it to the ACC or ON position. (This is operative
only when the theft deterrent system has never operated.)
(d) Unlock the luggage compartment door with the key. *1
*1 The theft deterrent system is temporarily canceled only while the luggage compartment door is
open. Approximately 2 seconds after the luggage compartment door is closed, the theft deterrent
system is reset.

im not going to argue w/ you because i know for a fact- it doesnt matter what a tech bulletin says b/c i know if you try to open the drivers side door with the key the alarm will go off. You have to use the keyless or unlock from the passenger side.

Then you may want to look for a problem with YOUR vehicle.

We have opened a ton of these with just a mechanical key or a high security flip pick and the alarm doesn't go off because we turned the alarm off by cycling the drivers side door lock. Or if we open the door by using an unlock tool and the alarm goes off we turn it off by cycling the key in the drivers side door.

It doesn't make sense to have to it only work in the passenger side door!

Most vehicles have this option for turning off the factory alarm.

Reed, it wouldn't be wise to argue with someone who's a Lexus lock specialist. I'd listen.

Default Nope it's still a problem

I noticed that there were little holes from where someone tried to break in under the handle. I don't know if anything is damaged, but I still have the problem. And I have to pull the fuse to start my car. This is really pissing me off. And making me really want to sell this car and get another one.

This problem is most always caused by the small switch behind the door lock cylinder, the contacts get a small film on them. It is not a fun deal to clean the contacts. Meaning removing and opening up the switch. I used a small screw driver to scrape a bit then rub the dielectric lube on them.
