Question VaisTech AVIC-100i Questions/ Problems

I recently installed this unit in my 03' GS 430, and have a few questions/ problems. Hopefully someone who has one of these too, can help me. I sent their tech support these last week but no answer yet. I wanted to check here first before calling them.

1. I believe that the unit is in MD mode by default. When I had it in this mode, I would push the disc button on my radio, and nothing would happen. Is this typical when your radio does not support MD?
2. When I plugged my ipod into the dock connector I noticed small amounts interference on the nav screen when not plugged in there still was interference but much less noticable. Any fix for this? May be related to #4.
3. When I switched playlists on the ipod through the disc button on the radio, I could hear hard-drive whining from the ipod through the stereo speakers.
4. I noticed the text and buttons on the Map of the navigation screen to not be a crisp / bright and colors are different shades from before ( ie Green is now light green) , which is annoying. Any fix?
5. Is there a way to have the ipod play something other that songs from a playlist (manual control)?

Thanks.

Eugene from VaisTech just called me and informed me that a firmware update to the unit should take care of the problem, he is going to swap the unit out. He had sent me a couple of emails too, but they got spam filtered.
