Yea, I've heard of some people not being satisfied with them.

It works for general stuff too? Wow, didnt know that.

Whats your advice on software for navigation? I have the software that came with my Delorme GPS USB module, but its really not touchscreen friendly. What does your software run with, iGuidance, Routis, something else?

Wow... haven't been to this forum in a while.
RDS - it gets radio station info. Similar to some toyota nav systems. Something like this:

Yeh, NaviVoice does a lot more things. I've gotta change the name though
I've also got the earthmate. I hear the software really sucks. Ninja Monkey's Map Monkey was made for in car navigation. But it doesn't display names in any 3d modes. Its all personal preference. For me, I'll be using NM's MM because it has an SDK.

Onboard Computer
Guys,
I realise this is a very old thread.
I was recently playing with my car and started thinking about trying to use the standard gps box to load an operating system ?
I am curious how you have done what you have done ?
If i am right, you have basically made a simple cpu and tapped it into the existing system ?
I saw the list of items you used but how have you linked it up to the standard system ?

I would love to attempt something like this it looks very impressive.

Regards

stephen

That was the only pic I took at the time, and right now the car's interior is totally gutted out. But once it's all back together I can take more pictures!
