Sorry I havent responded all day guys. Been at work and class alllll day.
Anyways, the bondo work is very light. It just takes a lot of patience to get it perfect. As you will see in my later pictures, my bondo work isnt totally perfect since I didnt have the time to totally correct the cracks I made, but it looks decent during the day and you cant tell at all at night, so I can live with in for another month till I get back home for spring break.
As for the list of what into the project, here is a rough list. There are ton of little things that you have to buy along the way, and thats what can kill the budget.
Xenarc 700TSV
VIA EPIA M10000 (1 GHz)
512 MB DDR RAM
120 GB Hard Drive
Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS PCI Sound Card
Slot load CD-RW/DVD drive
Opus 150W power supply
Delorme USB GPS receiver
And, if anyone is interested in my new audio setup:
MB Quart components in the front
Infinity Kappa speakers in the rear
-Powered by a new Pioneer amp
JL Audio 12W6v2 subwoofer
-Powered by a 500/1 JL Audio amp, and enclosed in a custom built fiberglass box
I know theres lots of other little things, but thats the beef of the system.

I think that finding anyone that has dropped their new laptop would be the best way to put together an Autopc. I know LOTS of people who have damaged their screens and are willing to get ANY kind of money back from the investment because its so expensive to get a new screen. Takes up less space as well.

Some people do choose to use old laptops as their car PC, but there are complications involved.
And yes, the screen fit VERY well in place if the stock head unit. The bondo work is fairly minimal.
Edit: Sorry I dont have more pics up yet. I've been budy with work and studying for a law exam for the past few days.

I'm still messing with frodoplayer, getting my music organized, getting the different codec that I need, etc. So once I get that basic stuff set up, I can move onto my navigation.

If you want radio, you can buy an FM tuner, yes. I personally dont have one and dont think I will any time soon. If I feel the need for radio, I'll just get XM or Sirius (which can be integrated into carputers).

BTW: NaviVoice isn't just for navigation... its also for Frodoplayer

Anyway, the USB radios are sh*t. There are guys working on a true AM/FM/RDS radio that uses pioneer components
