Does anyone have any pictures of basic set-ups on a gs, such as subs and amp...nothing too dramatic.

Thanks

They are doing the install on my '01 GS right now.

I'm changing the speakers and putting in a 12 inch sub in a sealed box with a separate amp.

Here are the pictures. So far it's only of the car in pieces, but I'll take some more when they start putting it back together.

Getting to the sub was a little tricky but not at all as hard as I feared. Many thanks to Percy for the instructions.

The installers removed all the speakers and the sub in just one hour. Had I done it myself I think it would have taken at least twice as long.

Overtaxed,

It looks very promising, be sure to tell us how it sounds after its all done. Btw, in your first picture what are those 2 black pouch sealed in by the plastic bag? On the top it appears to be 2 antennas attached to it sideways.

Kaban,

I didn't look too close at what was in there. I tried not to get into the installers way.

What looks like antennas I think are wires to the door lock and handle.

Above the speaker there's a box that looks like this:

Seems very complex just to handle a door.

Overtaxed,

I am thinking it might be an IC board to control all the window and locking mechanisms, like the auto-up, down and the window all down-up trick with the key.

dang, I am tempted to take apart the doors myself to figure out what that pouch is. Since I'll be tinting my windows soon I might as well take it apart myself and make the job easier for my tinters

Ovetaxed...I appreciate the pics! So you are replacing the stock sub in the same location? Question about you TTE colilvers, how much are they and where did you get them? Also, are they height adjustable? Let us know how everything turns out. Thanks again!

Mike,

No, I'm taking out the stock sub and just leaving an empty hole there.

The new sub goes into a box that "sits on the floor" of the trunk. Hard to explain. New pictures coming soon. I'm on my way to pick up the car now.

I bought the coilovers here in Sweden where they seems to be cheaper than in the states: $1100.
They are adjustable up to 2 inch.

Here's the trunk.

When it comes to looks it's far from the very nice installs some other members have but that is not a priority for me. I know that if I get started on that track it will end up being very very costly.

I can disconnect the box and remove it in three minutes if I ever need the trunk space.

After the inital tuning they ended up using a slotted box instead of a sealed one.

The amp was placed on the back wall of the trunk behind the box. It'll probably be moved to under the deck.

The sub is 800W (500W RMS) powered by a 360W amp.

Hmm... I think the correct term is "ported" box, not "slotted".
