Default Now ive got a problem.....

Alright, so im listening to the radio the other day in the car, when i hear a rattling noise ( NOT THE SUNROOF SHADE WHICH IS DISCUSSED IN A SEPERATE THREAD) rather my subwoofer seems to be blown. Time for some of that good old CL advise. What will replace the Mark Levinson subwoofer and/or where can i find a Mark Levinson woofer? Unfortunately i dont have a warranty on the car. Maybe its time to start modding the system?

Look for a JL Audio 10IB4, it will fit in the stock location and sound better than the ML sub, that's if you want to keep it simple.

It is a 10" subwoofer. Check out Image Dynamics ID series. It is an amazing sub for the money.

The impendancy on it is too low comparing with stock so you might have to turn your base **** down a notch. Don't turn it up to the point where clean bass becomes a distortion because stock amp is weak.

Only JL IB4's are designed for free air applications. Any other JL sub would sound really badly in that application. I suggest you use ID sub but its up to you.

I would also say get the Image Dynamics sub. I would also say not to put a W3 in the stock location. It needs a box and power to back it up.

Default behold the power of iPod and VAIS tech SLI???

Did the search and found this thread. Retro's link doesn't work for me

Anyways, had the SLI installed on my 01 GS with ML over the weekend. While driving today, all of the sudden the rear deck woofer (I assumed this is the sub woofer) had loud rattle. I think perhaps I blown the woofer.

Not an expert for audio so how can I make sure the woofer is blown? What kind of alternative do I have instead of getting it replace with ML woofer (expensive if I am correct). Need some of your expert advice. Thanks.

You really brought it back from the dead.... LOL

But, I like the Pioneer flat piston series subs. They sound great!! I have installed a number of them and have never had anyone disappointed...
