Hi guys,

I'm just wondering what you did (if you did anything) to dress up/enhance your battery. It can be upgrading the cable, the terminal connectors, to distribution blocks, ...

Here is one I like from RMMGS4:

I don't have a really good clean closeup of the battery (without some crap on it like the one I'll post below), but here are a couple. I really liked the Phoenix Gold ones that *I think* Lxogood has on his Optima, but couldn't find them when time came for my install..

I ended up going with Monster 3 way distribution links. My installer made a small custom Plexi piece that helps hold the battery in place with the OEM tie downs and dresses it up a little IMO. He also sheathed all the underhood and trunk exposed wiring in a cool nylabraid-type cover (not sure what the material is).

I like the big distriubtion blocks, but I don't quite have the massive system to support the need for one of those with one sub and one screen. Don't have all the crazy stuff that RMMGS4 has in his Wild Weasle GS (towed sonar array, chaff launcher, license plate flipper, etc)

Thanks for the pics Dave. The plexiglass is a nice touch. I am using a small metal plate right now on the terminal side because the tie down is too long to fit in between the humps on the terminal side and too shor to span the humps. The other problem is the current positive connector have a forced bend that is too short to reach the terminal. Looks like your installer replaced all that. I'm looking to do the same too. Did he replace the whole wire or just the end and sheathed it?

I think he just did the end and sheathed it, removing the 'forced bend'.

Thanks. That "forced bend" is causing some trouble right now so I can see why it is gone.

Yeah, once you get rid of that you don't have to worry about elevating the optima up to stock height. Got all sorts of new freedom .

One resource: I did a lot of online shopping for battery terminals before I settled on my Monster at CarDomain (which ironically they don't carry); they have a pretty good selection. Local installer had a Monster catalog where I found the ones I have.

Here's a distant shot of LXOGOOD's battery connectors. Before I saw his, I didn't even know these things existed.

Hey Dave it seems like all the connecters @ cardomain accept only 4G and 8G wires, are there any for 12G, Also will these only work with a certain kind of battery, or all kinds

thanks

I think the posts on most batteries are pretty much universal (or within a certain spec size) but you want the kind that goes on a top mount battery for the GS.

I browsed and didn't see any jump out for a 12 gauge wire. I'm no car stereo expert, but from what I do know, I'd be spending money on an upgraded stereo wiring kit before trying to dress up the battery if I were in your shoes.
