Sc400 audio question
Hi, I want to install 2 12" subs in my sc400. It has the nakamichi 12-disc 7 speaker sound system and the phone if that makes a difference. I was wondering what the easiest way to install the subs would be. Im assuming i need a new amp to power the subs. Is there a way to run the exsisting wires going to the stocksub through an amp and then to the Subs? Thanks
Yes, you'll need a new amp if you wish to run 2 subs. You can either:
1) take the wires going into the stock woofer and run them through an LOC ("Line Output Converter") which lowers their output and allows you to send their signals as regular inputs into an aftermarket amp, or
2) search CL for "Nak Hack" and follow the wiring diagrams to allow you to tap into the stock input signal wires and feed those directly into your add-on amp
Lots of SC owners have done what you are about to try, and have posted their experiences on CL's audio section. Search and you'll find lots to read up on.
